Microsoft Access is a powerful, Desktop, Database Management System. It allows users to handle very large datasets (much bigger than native Excel) intelligently while providing powerful querying and reporting tools for precise data extraction and presentation.
Its ability to form relationships with individual data lists means data can be stored with less duplication or repetition. This relational aspect also lends to powerful querying and reporting capabilities.
Access is designed to work as a standalone application but is just as capable performing as a “front end” for SQL server databases and the like.
